Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I can't stop thinking about how much I have been my dad - my very fear in life. I tried so hard not to yell or judge like him. I don't judge or criticize as much as I used to. I don't do the things he did to others. But I do the things he did to himself which then destroyed the very hearts of us (me, little sis and littlest sis.) I destroy myself on the inside and am so selfish that I don't see the truth. I must act quickly to make up the time I have lost and heal wounds before they get too deep. It's not about sympathy for me. It's about ridding myself of selfishness and self-centeredness. I've got some conscious, difficult changes to make.
You must do the thing you think you cannot do.
Eleanor Roosevelt
"I can't stop thinking about how much I have been my dad - my very fear in life."
What are you afraid of? Failure? Truth? Fear itself? :)

What's the most difficult, to me, is that I'm trying to change myself, and work on my problems, all the while taking care of three children by myself and THEY NEED ME!! The words "burnt out" come up in my mind a lot.... I ain't got the patience of Job. If you find that serenity, please pass the plate :)

I wasn't always the best father. Not terrible, but not the best. I see many of my worst traits in my kids, and I hate it.
Self awareness is always the key, and you have it. I wish you the serenity you deserve.

Your self-perception is one of the first things people learn about you, and most often they begin to see you as you see yourself. Give them a good show, show off your best assets sis...and I don't mean your ass-sits. "If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." --Henry Ford
